Privacy Policy

1. Overview

DiscoverKR ("the App") is an iOS travel companion for exploring Korea, developed by Jacob Taehun Ko ("Developer", "we", "us", "our"). We built DiscoverKR to be private by design.

2. No Account, No Login

DiscoverKR does not require you to sign up or create an account. You can use the App fully without providing any name, email, or other personal identifier to us.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device only and is never uploaded to our servers:

• Favorites — places you save within the App.
• Trip plans — itineraries you build in the trip planner.

This data remains on your iPhone and is removed when you delete the App.

4. Location

If you grant location permission, your location is used only to show nearby attractions on the map and to center the map on your position. Your location is processed on your device — it is not stored by us and not shared with anyone. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings, and the App will continue to work.

5. On-Device AI Travel Guides

AI travel guides are generated on your device using Apple's on-device Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence). Place content is processed locally and is not sent to the Developer. On devices that do not support these models, the App gracefully falls back to standard place information.

6. Advertising (Google AdMob)

DiscoverKR is free and displays banner advertisements via Google AdMob. AdMob may use device identifiers to serve and measure ads.

In line with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT), personalized ads are used only if you allow tracking when prompted. If you do not allow tracking, you will see non-personalized ads instead.

Advertising is provided by Google and is governed by Google's policies:

• Google Privacy Policy
• How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services

7. No Personal Data Collected by the Developer

The Developer does not collect, store, sell, or share your personal information. We have no servers that receive your favorites, trip plans, location, or AI-generated content.

8. Travel Data Source

Place and attraction information is sourced from the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) public data, used under the Korea Open Government License (KOGL Type 1). The App may also link out to KTO's official English pages for transport, accommodation, food, and shopping.

9. Children

DiscoverKR is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
